As students with intellectual disability have been increasingly pursuing postsecondary education, they have also been increasingly pursuing inclusion in all aspects of postsecondary education, including Greek life. Students with intellectual disability should have access to Greek Life, using the same processes students without disability use to access these programs. This requires students and their supporters to embrace the dignity of risk.

More students with intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) are attending post-secondary education than ever before. As more students with IDD enter college, inclusive post-secondary education programs (IPSE) will be required to make important decisions about the types of services and supports they provide. IPSE program staff should aim to provide supports and services that honor students’ dignity of risk and facilitate opportunities for students to take risks.
This webinar introduces the inclusive living component of the Succeed Program and how it was developed. An inclusive residential program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities comes with unique support needs and requires partnerships across the University. The webinar focuses on the University partnerships needed to maintain an inclusive community which include, Residential Life, Campus Police, Health Wellness and Counseling, Student Conduct, and Student Involvement.
