Don't miss this very special meeting featuring invited guest, Judy Heumann. Judy is an internationally recognized leader in the disability community and a lifelong civil rights advocate for people with disabilities. Majolyn, a student from Hostos Community College, suggested that we invite Judy to a meeting and she accepted! This call will be a time to hear from Judy as well as being able to ask her questions about the disability movement in the past, today, and what she hopes to see in the future. Students, graduates, and advocates with disabilities are welcome to attend and have a chance to ask Judy a question or just listen. Supporters are also welcome to attend. Registration is required.
A bit more about Judy: Judy Heumann is an internationally recognized leader in the disability community and a lifelong civil rights advocate for people with disabilities. Her memoir Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist, was published in 2020. She also is a part of a film called Crip Camp which shares the story of disabled teens at camp in the 1970’s and how they helped sparked the disability civil rights movement. Judy attended this camp and was one of the original organizers of the disability rights movement.
