The LEAP program at Albany Technical College (ATC) provides students with IDD, ages 18 and older, an inclusive postsecondary college education. LEAP focuses on developing academic, personal, and self-advocacy skills that lead to employment. Each participant works closely with a trained mentor to assist them in developing academic, social & employability skills. The program is based on the strengths and needs of the individual student identified through the development of a Person-Centered Plan. All certificates earned are for credit and are taught by ATC faculty dedicated to teaching and preparing all students. Along with taking credit classes, students can participate in career development workshops, job shadowing, and internships. Students enjoy the full college experience by participating in college activities, clubs, and organizations that are available to all ATC students.
