This item in the governor’s budget designates $2M to create and operate an Inclusive College Technical Assistance Center from ongoing Proposition 98 General Fund.
The California State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) and the California Inclusive College Alliance (ICA), along with a coalition of disability advocate partners, worked to advance the proposal in the legislature. Beginning in the 2024-2025 fiscal year and each fiscal year after, the center will receive $2 million from the Proposition 98 General Fund. A county office of education will administer the center in partnership with other agencies. Additionally, the center will align with federal requirements and identify funding sources to establish, expand, and enhance postsecondary programs at the University of California and California State Universities for students with I/DD, and support their goal of obtaining higher education.
