A BILL ENTITLED AN ACT concerning University of Maryland, College Park Campus – TerpsEXCEED Program
This bill allows for the possibility of $350,000 annual allocation beginning in FY 2027 to support the TerpsEXCEED program for students with intellectual disabilities at the University of Maryland. Funds may be used for academic support, peer mentoring, career services, and disability coordination. Additionally, Maryland would become a hub for inclusive higher education, offering start-up funding and technical assistance (via RFP) to other institutions looking to replicate the TerpsEXCEED model, with UMD serving as the state’s demonstration site. This bill does not guarantee that the funding shall be provided, instead stating that the Governor MAY allocate funds.
