In October 2016, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board issued this report on the results of a survey of public higher education institutions regarding recruitment of students with IDD. This survey was conducted pursuant to Texas Senate Bill 37.
The survey concluded that institutions do not have enough resources or staff devoted to identifying and recruiting students with IDD. Students who do enroll have difficulty transitioning, are often underprepared, and face travel-related accessibility challenges.
