Policy & Legislation

Status: Passed 6/12/2024

This state appropriations bill awards $12,484, 565 from the general revenue fund to Florida Postsecondary Comprehensive Transition Program. $2.5M may be used for Center for Students with Unique Abilities, and remaining must be used for grants to programs (no more than $500,000) and scholarships for up to $15,000 for eligible students.

This appropriations bill, signed in 2023, increased the Florida CTP scholarship amount for eligible students from a maximum of $7,000 to $15,000. Student eligibility is detailed in section 1004.6485(7) of Florida Statues. Eligibility requirements include eligibility requirements for a student attending a CTP (Comprehensive Transition Program) in general, and must demonstrate satisfactory academic progress in the FPCTP, as determined by the eligible institution that the student attends.

Signed into law by Florida’s governor on January 21, 2016, the Florida Postsecondary Comprehensive Transition Program Act (the Act) (FS 1004.6495) established the Florida Center for Students with Unique Abilities (FCSUA) at the University of Central Florida and charged the Center with managing the Florida Postsecondary Comprehensive Transition Program (FPCTP) application and approval process.
