The Community College Affinity Group provides an opportunity to existing and potential inclusive postsecondary education programs and partners to provide peer to peer learning and support around community colleges and inclusive postsecondary education. Anyone working with community colleges or those who are simply curious about how these programs can work, are welcome.
At the January meeting, the focus will be on academic access for students with intellectual disability at community colleges. A facilitator will provide an example of starting an inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) program at a community college in Colorado. They will focus on barriers that were overcome and those that still remain as it relates to students accessing academic coursework. The group will then engage in a conversation about similar experiences or concerns, with the goal of sharing resources and ideas around modified academic approaches and program development considerations.
