Think College and the Transition Leadership Program at the Institute for Community Inclusion at the University of Massachusetts Boston are excited to announce a new special topics course for transition specialists, college program coordinators, secondary education teachers, secondary special education administrators, and doctoral and Master's students. This 3-credit online course will address topics such as:
Current laws and updated federal guidance regarding: college-based transition services (CBTS), inclusive postsecondary education, use of WIOA/Pre-ETS services
Key components of highly effective college-based transition services
Roles of all collaborators (LEA, College or University, Communty Agencies)
Program development and implementation strategies
Interagency collaboration activities to establish and maintain CBTS
National data regarding existing practices from Think College
Given the growing interest in college options for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, this course comes at a critical time for those who want to be able to offer college-based transition services as an option for postsecondary education. Here are the basics of this new course Special Topics: College-Based Transition Services Policy and Practice:
