Regional alliance presence is indeed growing across the country, with almost every state now finding a home within a regional alliance. This Spring and Summer, there were five capacity building institutes (CBIs) and four planning meetings for regional alliances. In 2015, the Southeast Postsecondary Education Alliance (SEPSEA) hosted its first CBI at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. Two years later, the Midwest Inclusive Postsecondary Alliance (MIPSA) initiated coalition building with Midwestern states. The success of these two regional alliances inspired the vision of a national network of regional alliances.
- The first CBI for 2024 was held April 8-9. The Great Lakes Inclusive Postsecondary Education Alliance (GLIPSEA) held its CBI in conjunction with the Multiple Perspectives Conference at The Ohio State University.
- The Red River Higher Education Alliance (RRHEA) hosted their CBI at the University of North Texas from May 16-17.
- SEPSEA held its 9th annual conference in Clearwater, FL, from May 22-24.
- The Northwest Inclusive Postsecondary Education Alliance (NWIPSEA) held its first CBI at Washington State University in Pullman, WA, from May 29-31.
- MIPSA will hosted their CBI during the first week of August in Chicago, IL at Elmhurst University.
The Mid-Atlantic Alliance for Inclusive Higher Education (MIDA), Upper Midwest regional alliance, Four Corners regional alliance and Northeast Inclusive Postsecondary Education Alliance (NEPSEA) held planning meetings this summer.
