The Think College Transition project focuses on implementing, evaluating, and refining the Think College Transition Model, building upon the Massachusetts Inclusive Concurrent Enrollment Initiative. This initiative supports partnerships between local education agencies and colleges and universities to provide transition experiences to youth with ID/A.
The TCT project works with these partnerships to refine their practices and align them with the TCT Model. Evaluation activities are being conducted to determine the impact of participation in the TCT Model on students’ levels of self-determination, career awareness, college self-efficacy, and employment outcomes.
With a focus on implementing the TCT key components, project staff facilitated workgroups with dual enrollment partners to identify areas of professional development, and then developed new training and technical assistance resources. These resources are being disseminated as part of the TCT training series, which will continue through October 2018.
The target audiences for these trainings are transition specialists, employment specialists, college program coordinators, educational coaches, and special education administrators. The training sessions are being offered face-to-face and via webinar. Training topics address best practices in student support, course access, advising, and customized employment.
