Think College Policy Advocates 2019-2025: A Summary Report

Through a partnership between Think College and the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD), the Think College Policy Advocates (TCPA) training program was established to train pairs of college students with intellectual disability and a college staff or faculty member on critical topics related to effective advocacy, particularly for college options for students with intellectual disability.

This report covers the TCPA application process, including eligibility requirements; the team review and selection process; preparation and training; curriculum development; the in-person meeting; Capitol Hill visits; and more. Throughout the report, quotes from participants speak to transformative effect TCPA has on participants. There is also data on the impact of TCPA training on participants' understanding of advocacy and disability policy, as well as developing critical networking skills.
