This practical publication explains the benefits of forming an inclusive postsecondary education state alliance and provides lessons learned and tips for starting or expanding state alliances. Included are ten tips to get started, different possible models to consider, lessons learned, and related resources.
Opportunities for collaboration, peer-to-peer learning, and coalition building proliferated as the number of inclusive higher education programs more than doubled in the last decade. Alliances among states and several regions of the country are providing excellent mechanisms for moving the field forward in new and unified ways, as well as supporting sustainability in the field. This article, featured in Impact, provides examples of state alliances and discusses current work related to the development of regional alliances.
This report presents the findings of the Massacusetts Task Force on Higher Education for Students with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ID/ASD), convened by the House and Senate Co-Chairs of the Joint Committee on Higher Education. The report describes higher education opportunities for students with ID/ASD nationally and statewide, and includes specific findings and recommendations to increase access to inclusive higher education and ensure citizens with ID/ASD have equal opportunity to reach their potential.

In an effort to support the continued growth in postsecondary options across the country, Think College funded Statewide Strategic Planning grants to 18 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDs) in 18 states from 2010 to 2012. These $15,000 grants were funded by the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This brief provides guidance for others interested in embarking on a strategic planning process to increase PSE options.
