National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC) College Fair

Think College is proud to partner with National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC) to host the 2021 Virtual College Fair. Colleges and universities will showcase their postsecondary programs for students with intellectual disabilities. Representatives from the college programs will be available on Friday, June 25, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM Eastern. Additionally, all registered colleges will be in the Virtual Exhibit Hall for registered attendees to visit during convention week and for 90 days afterward.

A Glimpse of SRV: Putting the Inclusive into Postsecondary Inclusive Education

This two-day introductory course on the basics of Social Role Valorization is designed specifically for those serving, supporting, and envisioning a full and inclusive postsecondary experience, for and with, people with disabilities. This overview event will present the idea of assisting people with disabilities and other devalued conditions to have positive social roles as a productive and helpful response to wounding life experiences and how that can be applied particularly in college and university settings.

The National Coordinating Center’s Evaluation Team is thrilled to share the Annual Report of the Cohort 2 TPSID Model Demonstration Projects (year 5, 2019-2020). This report summarizes data from the final year of the Cohort 2 model demonstration projects, including data on both programs and students.

This Fast Fact provides a summary of the findings shared in the Annual Report of the Cohort 2 TPSID Model Demonstration Projects (Year 5, 2019–2020). Findings are shared across multiple categories including employment, vocational rehabilitation, academics, academic and employment supports, residential services, program completion and credential attainment, and one-year outcomes.

Think College REPORTS present descriptive data in narrative or tabular form to provide timely information to researchers, practitioners, and policymakers for review and use. This report provides program- and student-level data reported by TPSIDs (Transition and Postsecondary Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities) during the 2019-20 academic year. Program data reflect program characteristics, academic access, supports for students, and integration of the program within the institute of higher education during the fifth year of FY 2016–2020 funding.

Part 2 of Getting it Right AND Learning on the Fly: Prepared for College?

Picking up where they left off, Kathy Becht & Dee Sapp will discuss what they thought they knew and what they learned on the fly while preparing their sons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to go to college. Topics covered will include relationships & free time, establishing routines, creating and using a schedule, transportation, and more.

Twenty years ago there were only a few college options for students with intellectual disability. There are now over 300 postsecondary programs nationally serving over 6,500 students.
