This Insight Brief is based on a research study by the authors that explored the admissions process and eligibility criteria for programs that support students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The researchers used a national online survey and virtual interviews with postsecondary education program staff to learn about the skills, behaviors, and qualities most commonly valued during the admissions process. They also explored the steps and timeline of the admissions process.

This mentor application was created by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette LIFE Program. The application's purpose is to screen and gather information from students interested in being mentors. This resource can be used in an online form (i.e., Microsoft, Google, etc.) and sent as a link to students who want to apply.

These four documents were created by staff at Think College to clearly explain the purpose of the different federally funded projects focused on college options for students with intellectual disability-- the National Coordinating Center, the Inclusive Higher Education Network, the TPSID Model Demonstration projects-- as well as the comprehensive federal initiative Model Transition Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities into Higher Education.

This resource is designed for people at postsecondary career and technical education (CTE) institutions who recognize the need to make CTE more accessible to students with intellectual disability. This guide provides a roadmap on how to plan for, initiate, and implement strategies for improving support for students with intellectual disability.

As students with intellectual disability have been increasingly pursuing postsecondary education, they have also been increasingly pursuing inclusion in all aspects of postsecondary education, including Greek life. Students with intellectual disability should have access to Greek Life, using the same processes students without disability use to access these programs. This requires students and their supporters to embrace the dignity of risk.
